Atelier Vautrin opened in 2016 in a former printing works on the slopes of Croix-Rousse, with a second-hand potter's wheel, a small electric kiln, and a rather stubborn conviction: a plate should last longer than the table it sits on. Each piece is still hand-thrown in a stoneware clay we source from a family quarry in Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye, four hours northwest. We never work with molds, which is why two bowls from the same series are never exactly identical and why their glaze reacts differently to light. If a piece arrives chipped, send us a photo and , we replace it free of charge, even if it was purchased several years ago.
The workshop opens its doors to the public on the first Saturday of each month, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can watch the team throwing, trimming, and glazing, try out pieces from the current collection, and leaf through our glaze test notebooks, some of which have never left the shelf. Admission is free, but the number of places is limited to fifteen people: please book your slot online at least a week in advance. Children are welcome, as are dogs, provided they stay away from the drying shelves. The Croix-Rousse metro station is a five-minute walk away, and parking on the street is almost impossible.
Delivery in mainland France takes two to three working days and is free for orders over €90; below that, it costs €6.90. Orders to the rest of the European Union arrive in four to six working days. For Switzerland and the United Kingdom, we ship duties paid, so the amount shown at checkout is the final amount. You can return any unused item within 30 days for a full refund. Custom pieces and seconds are neither exchangeable nor returnable, but we always find a solution together.
Yes, all our stoneware pieces are microwave and dishwasher safe. Just avoid thermal shock, like a bowl taken from the freezer and placed directly in the oven.
Yes, for one hour after purchase. Afterwards, write to us and we will do our best before the package leaves the workshop.
Each order is packed in recycled paper. Gift wrapping with a handwritten card costs €3.50 and is added in the cart.
